05/10/10: CAC - National Allbreed Show Salgótarján
Salgótarján CAC was organised in a wonderful valley in Northeast Hungary, very nice venue. Lola got 2nd Ex, out of coat. Judge Mr P.Szabó Béla did not like her at all and said: “... it is the beach where we go without coat...”. Altogether it was a good weekend with a lovely excursion in Börzsöny mountains. We climbed up the castle ruins of Drégely, where a small group of Hungarian heroes stopped the expansion of the huge Turkish Empire's army for a short time in the 16th century.

This weekend we kept our fingers cross not only for the results of Hungarian elections, but for Trek too who went to Kent with Ross, to Southern Border Collie Club Show, where he won junior class!! Judge was David Cavill, who gave Star the European Junior Champion title in 2008 at the European Dog Show in Budapest. David Cavill is highly recognised judge, having extensive experience as a breeder, exhibitor and Championship show manager. Wrote several books e.g. 'All About Showing Dogs' first published by Pelham Books in 1984. It is such an honour that he thinks so highly about our dogs.

2010. February 13, Saturday: Star as most successful British sheepdog got Pentabord Cup for 2010! photo

Star received this year the Pentabord Cup, founded for the most successful British sheepdog of the previous year. For this very high recognition compete collies, beardies, bobtails, aussies, corgies and border collies in Hungary. It is first time that a border collie wins this cup. The official ceremony was the annual award dinner of the Hungarian British Sheepdog Club. Pentabord Cup is sponsored by Zsuzsanna Vörös, first Hungarian pentathlon olympic champion lady.

Star was shown at 49 shows in 2009 which required considerable effort both on the side of the dog as well as owners. From the UK through Transsylvania to Dalmatia and from the Carpathian Uplands to Voivodina we travelled a lot, worked a lot, had lots of wonderful results, fantastic experiences, also some disappointments but that's the way it is - we have learned. From the very beginning we saw that there is always a chance to win with Star so we showed him as much as we had time and energy. He proved to be an enthusiastic traveller and real friend on our long journeys. After winning special junior class at Crufts, we decided to compete through the rest of the year to win Pentabord Cup. (For his complete show results data pls. go to Star)
And we got it... it was unbelievable that Star became first and pioneer again.

First... it was yesterday too that he received the 'Chelsie' Memorial Cup founded by Forestry Farm, given by Attila Németh for the most successful FF showdog. Star saluted Chelsie (Jephanil Kamella) the very first border collie of Hungary in his own way: he won class at Crufts exactly on the day when Chelsie, his great grandma died one year before - as very first Hungarian border collie. The dog of surprises... :)

He was awarded yesterday as Club Star dog and a special prize for Crufts. We are thankful to the club officials for the awards and for the support during the year.

Many thanks to our friends in Hungary and abroad, especially Paul and Nid from Eyes of the World Kennels in Belgium and Ross Green in the UK for their support.

Goal of 2010 is to finish champion titles of further three countries (Romanian and Serb he has) and gain the International Show Champion title. We wish to collect at least one single Hungarian Best of Breed title.

We are very proud of Star for being our children's best friend and playmate as well as our family member with Smilie and Lola. And that he is such a great show dog...
